OPERATION REACH OUT 2011
On Saturday, November 5, 2011, 130 smiling volunteers boxed a record setting 1,506 "care packages". This event concluded GBU's 5th year of sending needed supplies to our brave overseas soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan!
Among our packing day volunteers was "guest packer" U.S.Congressman Tim Murphy and his staff. They have been here EVERY YEAR supporting GBU Operation Reach. Upon completion of packing day, Congressman Murphy spoke about his trips to Iraq and how packages such as ours truly do make a difference to our soldiers.Two of our many returning "guest packers" were our local Brentwood Mayor, Ken Lockhart and his wife Sue. In addition to boxing with us for many years, Mayor Lockhart heads up a group in Brentwood that also ships "care boxes" to our soldiers! We thank them all for taking time to say thanks to our troops.
GBU would also like to personally thank the 130 packing day volunteers, the GBU Home Office employees and friends of GBU for their help in making this project a huge success! Whether you donated your time or made a financial donation - it is because of you that we have been able to increase our shipment from 466 boxes in our 1st year to 1,506 boxes shipped in 2011. GBU THANKS YOU!!
Most of all.. We thank our troops for protecting and defending our country and our freedoms!

"Thank You" Soldier Cards
An amazing number of personalized "Thank You" cards were included with the care packages this year. Many cards were colored by youth members; several cards were signed by adult members during district meetings; and MANY more cards were signed by schoolchildren, boy scouts and businesses associated with GBU districts throughout the country. The cards were the last item packed, so they were the 1st item the soldiers saw when they opened their boxes. Click here to view a sampling of these touching creations.
