Louis Volz Recipient A Familiar GBU Member

Honoree, Rudy A. Kessler

When Rudy A. Kessler bought his first GBU life insurance policy 29 years ago, GBU gained not only an additional member, but a true fraternalist! Even though Brother Kessler was surprised when Chairman of the Board Lea Ann Hazi presented him with the 2007 Louis Volz Founder’s Award, there was no surprise from District 45 members, officers and family attending this special recognition luncheon.

For more than two decades, the name Rudy Kessler has been visible in every issue of the GBU Reporter. As a district representative for the Altoona district, Rudy has qualified for many of GBU’s producer awards including the Century Club, Sales Leader Club and President’s Club. He has served District 45 as trustee, president and his current position as vice president. Designated as GBU’s July 1992 Fraternalist of the Month, Rudy was subsequently named GBU’s Fraternalist of the Year.

GBU is not the only society fortunate enough to benefit from Rudy’s volunteer efforts. Representing GBU as a member of the PA Federation of Fraternal Clubs, Rudy was recently inducted into the Blair Chapter Hall of Fame for his outstanding dedication and support. The Health South In-Patient Rehab organization also recognized Rudy with its Award for Volunteerism, as did the Bavarian Aid Society. Rudy is also involved with the Swiss Rifle Association, Unter Uns Singing German Society and the St. Stanislaus Club. He is also an advocate for victims of Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

Rudy and his also GBU-active spouse, Frances, have 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Rudy has dedicated his life to helping others and through the fraternal standards he has lived, his family is following in his footsteps. Anyone familiar to District 45 knows that the entire Kessler family is committed to GBU.

GBU is honored to have Rudy A. Kessler as a member and is proud to award him GBU’s most prestigious award, the Louis Volz Founder’s Award.
